How to add the widget to your Home Screen

  1. Unlock your iPhone and long-press an empty area on the Home Screen (or long-press any existing widget) until the icons jiggle and enter "edit mode".
  2. Tap the "+" button at the top-left to open the widget gallery.
  3. In the search box, type "CalAlarm" (or scroll down to find this app) and tap to open its widget list.
  4. Swipe left/right under "Next Alarm" to preview the small / medium / large sizes, then tap "Add Widget".
  5. The widget appears in floating state on the Home Screen — drag it anywhere you like, then tap "Done" at the top-right.

Once added, the widget shows your next alarm time and countdown, and updates automatically as you set alarms in the app (data syncs via App Group, no need to open the app). If it shows no data, open the app once to let the alarms sync.

FAQ

Q: Will the alarm ring in silent mode?

A: On iOS 26.1+, alarms are based on system-level AlarmKit and ring normally in Silent and Do Not Disturb modes. On earlier versions, alarms use local notifications, so Silent/Do Not Disturb may only show a notification banner without guaranteed sound — keep an eye on the banner.

Q: Will the alarm ring after the app is closed?

A: On iOS 26.1+, system-level alarms ring on time even if the app is completely closed. On earlier versions, alarms use local notifications: you still get the reminder (banner) on time after closing the app, though ringing may be affected by Silent/Do Not Disturb.

Q: How does subscription auto-renew?

A: The subscription auto-renews within 24 hours before the period ends, charged via the payment method tied to your Apple ID. To avoid renewal, cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends.

Q: How do I cancel a subscription?

A: Go to Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions, select this app and tap "Cancel Subscription". You keep membership benefits until the end of the current period.

Q: How do I restore purchases?

A: Tap "Restore Purchases" on the subscription page; the system verifies your Apple ID and restores purchased membership.

Q: How is the free trial calculated?

A: First-time yearly subscribers get a 14-day free trial. You can cancel anytime during the trial without being charged. After the trial, paid subscription begins automatically.

Q: Is my data uploaded to a server?

A: No. All alarm data is stored only on your device locally (SwiftData) and is never uploaded to any server.

Q: How do I import my own ringtone?

A: In "Choose Ringtone", tap "Import from Files" to pick audio from the Files app (mp3/m4a/wav/aiff/caf etc.). You can also use the system Share sheet and choose "Copy to CalAlarm" from another app. The audio is transcoded locally into a ≤30s looping ringtone stored on your device, so it still plays at alarm time even if the app is closed. DRM-protected Apple Music songs cannot be imported.

Q: How do I set an alarm to ring on only certain days?

A: In the alarm editor, tap "Ring Date" to open the date picker and select one or more dates (or use the quick picks for a month/year of weekdays, weekends, or all dates). Selecting multiple ring dates is a Pro feature.

Q: How do I see which days have alarms?

A: Go to the "Calendar" tab — days with alarms are highlighted. Tap a day to see its ring times; swipe to switch months.

Q: The widget shows "No alarm" or doesn't update — what do I do?

A: The widget data syncs with the app via App Group. Please open the app once to let alarms sync, then return to the Home Screen. If it still doesn't update, long-press the widget and choose "Reload", or remove and re-add it. The widget refreshes automatically every 15 minutes. iOS 16 or later is required.

Q: What sizes does the widget support?

A: The widget comes in small, medium, and large sizes: the small size shows only the next alarm time; the medium and large sizes also show the countdown and alarm label, and the large size adds a hint to manage alarms in the app.
