FAQ
Both are iOS showing your limits, in the two guard modes a plan can use. In Lock, the icon stays where it is and looks faded; opening the app shows the system block screen. In Hide, iOS removes the icon from the Home Screen, the App Library and search until you lift the plan or use temporary access. AppCage only picks the apps per your plan and writes the limits — how iOS draws, dims or hides a restricted app is up to iOS, and AppCage never redraws or moves an icon itself.
On the unlock screen, tap “Use recovery code” and enter the code you wrote down when you set your passcode. You can then set a new one. The recovery code lives only in this device's Keychain and we can't recover it for you, so keep it somewhere safe.
Each one lasts 15 minutes; iOS resumes shielding on its own, and the plan card shows “Allowed until 21:43”. There's no limit on how often you use it — you verify each time. You can also tap “Resume shielding” on the Guard tab to end one immediately.
iOS measures and keeps Screen Time data, usually for about the last month. Earlier usage can't be retrieved, and calendar days before that range open empty.
iOS blocks at most 50 app tokens at a time; going over makes the whole blocking fail. To cover a lot of apps, pick by category — one category token covers every app in it. Hiding has its own separate 50-token cap, and it only works on apps you pick one by one: picking a whole category can only lock it, never hide it.
Plans come back with a device migration or backup. The passcode and recovery code live in this device's Keychain only, so you'll set them again on a new device.
Subscriptions and refunds
- Restore purchases: tap “Restore Purchases” on the subscription page with the same Apple ID.
- Manage or cancel: Settings › Apple ID › Subscriptions, or tap “Manage Subscription” on the subscription page.
- Refunds go through Apple — we can't process them for you.
Revoke authorization
Turning off Screen Time authorization in Settings lifts every limit at once. Make sure you remember your passcode and recovery code before you do.
